Hi Everyone:

I don't really have much to say but I just wanted to drop in. I haven't been able to spend much time working on my blogs lately because I just got assigned to a new show... Best Week Ever!! The show is really great and I am working with great people. It is very fast paced and busy but you know how I like to get down.... BUSY, shakin & movin!!

I also worked on two really great productions last weekend. In the morning I worked on a music video for a independent group called Musok. This role was particularly interesting because I played a woman who had OD'd on heroin.. imagine THAT!!! I was a little caught off guard when they casted me BUT I figured it is good to explore different roles. We shot in Long Island on a deserted fire department training ground. The place was beautiful with the water and HUGE homes (coulda housed a LOT of Katrina victims). It was REALLY COLD and EARLY and they had to do a lot of really scary make up but it was a nice experience. The crew was amazing and VERY talented. I cannot wait to see the final product. When you guys see this you will BUG OUT... it is definitely a different look for me.

That night I worked on another shoot called "A Talent for Trouble". I was a kind of an urban version of Seinfeld. The cast and crew on this shoot were amazing as well. M. Johnson the director is a very amazing and so is Roman Rivera one of the principal actors. Both of those guys are really smart and are basically two men of color making things happen for themselves and OTHERS. I love being a part of projects like that and am VERY grateful for being included in it. I really hope to work with these guys more in the future. I don't want to talk to much about the details of the scenes but they were filled with many different interesting topics from fights, to humor, to music.. everything!! We shot at the Sony Music Studios here in NYC and there were cameos by Prodigy of Mobb Deep & the guy from The Wire. BIG shouts to Oneisha on this one!! Can't wait to get this footage either!!

Anyway this weekend will be filled with more work, if you are close to me you know what I am up to. If you are not close to me you will find out soon what I have brewing. I have been out of sight for a long minute but soon I will emerge better than ever. Muah xoxoxo

Many of the ladies airbrushed look just as good in the "real" picture as the the airbrushed BUT some of the other ladies are noticeably different with butt lifts, tummy slims and highlighting. Check it out and LADIES.. don't feel bad about yourself because obviously what we see in the mags isn't reality. Love yourself!! And FELLAS.. QUIT stressing females to look like girls in the magazines because many times they don't even look like themselves... WHAT???

Blah Blah Blah

What a terrible way to start a post (blah blah blah). I guess that is how I feel right now but without reason (well I do have a reason, my tummy aches.... doh...), so hopefully I can get over the self loathing. I haven't written for a while which always makes me feel bad because I feel like I am missing out on expressing some valuable insight that has ran through my brain but short of having my computer on my hip those thoughts come and go without documentation. I could lie and say that I don't really have much to say today (because I really don't have anything pressing) or I can recall some of the things I have experienced the last week or so which have been kind of interesting.

Referring to calendar to remember :(

Part I:
The snow came on the weekend of Feb. 19th so that delayed my photoshoot but this weekend we will be making up for that. I am really excited about getting new photos because HONESTLY it is about time. I don't really like to "throw" myself together for flicks. I like to mentally "prepare" myself, outfit, etc. so when it comes it is a GO. You don't want to get yourself all dolled up for them to turn out bad and be a waste so you gotta prep to make sure they can turn out the best as possible (drinking TONS of water). These photos will be natural shots because that is who I am on a regular day so I try to represent myself in that manner. I want to be the same on pictures and print as I am when you see me in the streets. Of course sometimes you glam it up because that is one side of me (I call her Diamonique, lol) but aside from that I am regular ol', goofy, loud, fast-talkin', jumpin' off that wall Nique. Hopefully they turn out nice and I can share them with everyone soon.

Okay I got my dates wrong the snow was before that SEE that is why I need my calendar, I can't remember anything - I am a mess :( BUT the long weekend WAS nice.. sleep!!!!

Part II:
Over the long weekend I went to see Freedomland & Something New. Since I am studying acting I think it is important to study the art as well as watch other performances. There weren't many options of things to see. I wanted to see Madea's Family Reunion (I saw that the next weekend on Feb. 25, will write more later) but that didn't come out yet. These are the times I wish there was a theatre in Harlem that showed indie films like Capote or Brokeback Mountain. Of course we have nothing like that in the "hood" and since I'm not leaving my neighborhood to see a film I was relegated to.... Freedomland with Samuel L. Jackson & Julianne Moore.

Overall I thought the film was kind of cliche-ish but it had some interesting parts in it that I think were more interesting to me because of the way they were shot... not the actual performance. I was also surprised to see a dude I know in it. I was really surprised and happy to see his small part (you can see him on my webpage in the "News" section and "On the set of "Ninja Please!!"). It is so interesting because it seems like everyday someone I know is blowing up. My generation of GRINDERS are definitely starting to get their shine..... more and more they begin to emerge on the forefront everyday. This is great to see (you already know what I am thinking.. HA).

Next I snuck into Something New (yes I sneak into movies, I could do it all day!!) with Sanaa Latham. Overall I thought the film was cute and a little too close for comfort. I wouldn't necessarily say I am her because I am not so uptight BUT it seems lately everyone keeps pressing me about settling down BUT I will NOT go into that right now.. hahahaha. It was cute seeing the Sanaa & Simon falling in love, their chemistry was cute, I liked that. I didn't think he was the most GORGEOUS guy I have seen but he was definitely right for the role and his attitude/style/truth was cute. He was who he was and that is what was cute about him, he didn't try to be someone else for Sanaa's character.

Overall a nice weekend. Not the stimulating experience I craved but was sufficient.

Part II:
On Feb. 21st the Producer & "Shug Avery" from the Broadway show "The Color
Purple" came to my work (MTV Networks) to talk about the show for Black History Month. The story of the show's growth from idea to broadway was amazing. I wish I could tell it all from beginning to end because it is really an interesting story (maybe I will write about it later). The actress Elizabeth who plays "Shug Avery" in the show is so amazingly nice and humble. If you haven't seen the show she deserves the role and does a wonderful job.

So obviously that inspired me to see the show. I had already wanted to see the show but somehow it slipped from priority list and disappeared. In honor of Black History Month they had a discount (heyyy, you already know I love a bargain) so I copped my ticket. I went in the door with high expectations because I had heard so many good things about it.

The live band began and the chills started to come. I love live music and if that was any hint ....... stopping... brb
